Don’t Let Your Inner Me Become Your Enemy

You don’t want to miss this issue’s Soul Life feature! Contributor Cherise Wesson talks about how to keep your poise from turning into poison. A few snippets from the full article:

Write out self-esteem affirmations and say them to yourself often.

Here are some examples:
• I am beautiful.
• I am attractive.
• I am loved.
• I am intelligent.
• There is nothing unachievable for me.
• God has a plan for my life.

Keep them everywhere so you don’t forget! Write or post them on the mirror that you see every morning. Post them on your refrigerator. Store a copy in the visor of your car. Post them on the side of your computer monitor at work. Keep a copy in your nightstand to see before you go to bed. Remind yourself of who God has said that you are and say it out loud. What you say out of your mouth will help change how you feel about your self and continually develop your self-confidence.

Treat yourself to activities/things that make you feel good about yourself inside and out.

Manicures and Pedicures – If you can’t afford the official spa treatment, find a shop near you that does a great job for a small price. Small things like manipedis can make all the difference.

Massages – join mailing lists for local spas to keep up with their specials. Some massage clubs offer a monthly massage at a decent price so you don’t have to pay regular price per session.

Retail Therapy – don’t go crazy and rack up your credit card, but stroll the mall or your favorite store for a deal and find a new outfit that accents your shape and makes you look great.

Walk in Nature – Aaaah! Nothing like enjoying the outdoors. It doesn’t have to be an extravagant hike in the woods, but just stepping outside for a walk-even to a local park, the fresh air will do you some good. Take deep breaths and enjoy nature.
